Den meetings
Den meetings will be held on Mondays from 6:30-8:00. We will NOT be meeting every Monday so it will be important to check the Scout Book calendar. Generally these meetings will be held in the Richmond Elementary Cafeteria. There are occasions when meetings may be held in other locations, you will be notified in advance.
Scout Book
In Scout Book you can, view the pack and den calendar for upcoming events, send e-mails, and view/edit your Scouts progress in the program. I enter each den meeting in Scout Book including what requirements or electives will be completed. If you miss a meeting this is your resource to know what you need to make up. Scout Book is your “go to” for information on pack and den events, please use it!
Rank Book
While the rank book is not required, I HIGHLY recommend it. There will be times when Scout work is assigned (not a lot just reading or reviewing a section or specific information). If you don’t have a book, you will find it difficult to make up missed requirements.
Supplies
Some meetings will require supplies. I will provide you a list in advance. At times you will have the option of providing your own, or paying a small fee for me to bring them for you.
Behavior
While I understand that kids will sometimes act out, it is important for them to understand they must be courteous to their fellow Scouts, leaders, and parents. EXCELLENT behavior is rewarded and poor behavior must be corrected.
Supervision/Parent Participation/Adult Partner
Wolves CAN be dropped off at den meetings without a parent; however, there are some meetings that will require parent participation or an adult partner. This information will be included in Scout Book, if a parent or adult partner cannot be present at meetings that require them, the Scout cannot attend. Failure to pick up your Scout on time after a den meeting will result in losing the privilege of a Scout attending without an adult present at all times.
Siblings
Siblings are welcome to attend, however there are times that it will not be appropriate for them to participate (particularly younger siblings). If participating younger siblings become disruptive, they will lose the ability to participate in den activities. Younger siblings must ALWAYS be accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult. Generally, I will have some toys available to keep younger siblings busy during our den meetings. Please feel free to utilize them!
Scout Participation
In order to earn a loop the Scouts must participate appropriately! If their behavior prevents that, the requirement will not be marked as satisfied.
Sign up Genius
You will need a sign up genius account. This will be utilized for both pack and den sign ups!
Mandatory Homework to Make Rank
In order to make rank the following requirements must be completed at home:
- Duty to God
- Cyber chip
- exercises in the pamphlet How to Protect Your Children From Child Abuse: A
- Any requirements missed in a den meeting (these will not be made up in den). Requirements/electives completed are listed on each den meeting in the den calendar.
Health Forms and Photo Consent
These forms must be filled out annually and provided at all council camping, shooting sports, and day camp events. I will also need a copy for the den. These forms are available under the Resources tab.
Tiger/Wolf Weekend
As a den we cannot camp out, but we can camp IN……I’m working on planning a camp in for the weekend of Nov 9. Please let me know ASAP if you and your Scout will be able to come. (Adult partner is REQUIRED for participation)
Leadership Opportunities
Each Scout will have the opportunity to serve as a denner (assistant) as well as select an elective with their family and plan, prepare, and lead a meeting. Select which elective you would like to lead here and which date you would like here. Please only select one elective until all Scouts have had a chance to lead.
